Let it be stated up front that I am not just a snob. Okay, that said, I have not read Twilight. I started it last year while I was on bed rest and read 30 pages before I got tired of it. Yes, I was in the middle of reading book 5 of a 12 book series I was really enjoying, so I may have been a tad biased. But, I just didn't go for it. I mean, it is vampires in high school. Well, I am now out of reading material, so I thought, if I could get it on CD from my library, I would go ahead and listen to it. I don't really have enough time to read it, but I thought listening to it would be a way I could give it a second chance. I mean, EVERYONE I know loves it. Except my brother Charlie, and it actually worries me a little that I am with him on this one. So, I got it today. And, while I make cornbread for the ward Christmas party tonight, I am going to listen. Wish me luck!

good luck! I did read them all and the first one annoyed me a lot but I finished it anyway and the last book is the best. There are still many parts that annoyed me though and I still haven't decided if I want to see the movie. :)

How did it go? The only experience I have with audio books was on this trip to UT with the friend of a friend (So I didn't really know her very well..at all) and...well...it was a welcome distraction to how awkward I felt in her car. :)

I can't say I'm a huge fan. I enjoyed them well enough, although I REALLY got annoyed with the characters in the 2nd one more. I just wanted to reach through the pages and slap Belle. The end of the first book is better than the first. I had a hard time getting started with the first one, too, so don't feel too bad. I'm hoping to read them again just to see if I like them more the second time around. I've only read books one and two so far, though.

I felt that it was light escapism reading, Bella was really annoying at times, my friend threw the book across the room and stopped reading it after a few chapters. I read them all they really are written for teenagers but I don't think I'd let my girls read them to many wrong implications and impressions of how a girl should act over love. Anyway I hear "the Host" is a lot better and written for adults. Enjoy

Okay, so this series is a guilty pleasure. The books are not timeless classics and you have to tolerate an irritating amount of teenage angst, but for some inexplicable reason I enjoy them. Of course, my expectations were extremely low. My mother-in-law, knowing what a bookworm I am, loaned me her copies of the first two during a visit. I felt obligated to read it and put it off until the last minute. I'd read Dracula and The Historian recently and decided the vampire genre just isn't for me. The books were a pleasant surprise. Plus, I grew up near Forks and it reminded me of home. I like to listen to the audiobook while folding laundry (the story isn't complicated, so it doesn't matter if you miss a line here or there). Good luck!

Oh my gosh...the host...amazing! Tara...you can borrow my copy if you so desire. It was a little hard for me to get into, it's not at all written like Twilight..but once I got into it, i couldn't put it down...come to think of it, your mom really liked that book too!
